COGMED Cognitive Rehabilitation

At Legato Center for Psychometric Assessment, we are proud to be a certified provider of Cogmed, a world-renowned cognitive rehabilitation program designed to strengthen working memory and attention in both children and adults.

What is Cogmed?

Cogmed is a research-based, digital cognitive training program grounded in neuroscience. It is designed to improve working memory, which plays a key role in focus, impulse control, reasoning, and learning.
Unlike general brain games, Cogmed offers a structured and adaptive program tailored to the user's unique cognitive profile and progress. The training is delivered through interactive digital exercises and monitored by a certified Cogmed coach to ensure support, accountability, and measurable progress.

Who Can Benefit from Cogmed?

Cogmed is designed for people who face challenges with attention, focus, and working memory whether due to developmental, educational, or neurological factors. Here’s how it can help different groups:

Children

Children who have learning difficulties often struggle to hold and process information in the moment especially in reading, writing, and math. Cogmed helps strengthen working memory, allowing these children to better follow multi-step instructions, understand lessons more clearly, and stay engaged during class. It also supports the development of focus and confidence, which are often affected by repeated academic struggles.

Adolesents & Adults

Teenagers dealing with concentration challenges may find it hard to complete assignments, retain information, or keep up with the pace of learning. Whether due to distraction, stress, or underdeveloped executive functioning, Cogmed can help them train their attention and memory skills. As a result, they become more organised, attentive, and able to manage school demands with greater independence.

Many adults face difficulties with remembering tasks

Individuals recovering from stroke, brain injury, or cancer-related cognitive effects

After a neurological event such as a stroke, traumatic brain injury, or even cancer treatment, many individuals experience lasting challenges with memory, focus, mental clarity, and problem-solving. These difficulties can affect daily functioning, emotional well-being, and the ability to return to work or school. Cogmed provides a structured cognitive training program specifically designed to rebuild attention and working memory. Through consistent, adaptive exercises and professional coaching, individuals can improve their cognitive performance, regain independence, and experience a stronger sense of control over their thinking processes. The program is non-invasive, personalized, and evidence-based making it a powerful support tool during the recovery journey.

How the Training Works

Cogmed is a structured, coach-guided training program that helps individuals strengthen their working memory through regular cognitive exercises. It is not a generic brain game  it’s a science-backed, targeted intervention designed for real-life impact. Here’s what the process looks like at Legato:

01

Initial Consultation & Screening

Each Cogmed journey begins with a professional consultation to assess whether the program is suitable for the client’s specific needs. This involves discussing challenges with attention, memory, or cognitive performance and determining the appropriate training plan.

02

Customized Training Plan

Based on the consultation, a personalized training plan is created. Clients are assigned a version of Cogmed training plan tailored to their age, cognitive level, and goals.

03

Daily Digital Training Sessions

The program involves interactive, computer-based tasks designed to train different aspects of working memory. These sessions typically: - Last 20 minutes - Occur 5 times per week
- Continue for 6 weeks The tasks are adaptive, meaning they automatically adjust in difficulty as the user progresses, ensuring the training remains appropriately challenging.

04

Progress Monitoring & Weekly Coaching

Throughout the training period, each client is paired with a certified Cogmed Coach who: - Tracks progress using Cogmed’s analytics dashboard - Offers weekly check-ins to provide feedback, motivation, and troubleshooting - Adjusts training goals and provides support for better outcomes This coaching element ensures that users remain engaged and accountable, leading to better long-term results.

05

Post-Training Evaluation & Feedback

At the end of the training, a final review is conducted. The coach assesses improvements using both subjective feedback and Cogmed’s built-in performance metrics. Clients receive a training summary report that outlines: - Areas of improvement - Strengthened cognitive abilities - Recommendations for further support if needed
